Samples
Any samples requested by the doctor, or a nurse should be placed in the receptacle provided at reception please put your sample container in a plastic bag or envelope for hygiene reasons and ensure the sample is labelled with your name, date of birth and GP.
All samples brought to the surgery for testing should be received by 4pm unless specifically instructed by a nurse or GP.
Results
Most results are available within 5 days of sending the sample to the lab, once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can access them by:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- using our online system
- contacting us using our online form
- phoning 01472 801234 or visiting us during ourĀ opening hours (it would assist the receptionists if you could ring after 10:00 when the phones are less busy.)
Some results such as MRI, X-ray and Ultrasound may take longer than 5 days to receive the result, please follow the advice of the testing facility.

Questions about your results
The reception team are trained to advise you on the out come of your results, the GP will have indicated on the report whether your results are normal, or need routine or urgent follow up. If the GP has not indicated you need a follow up appointment but you want to talk to someone about your results, or you are still having continuing problems, the receptionist can advise you what to do next.
