Cervical Screening Results to Be Available on the NHS App from September

From September, patients will be able to receive their cervical screening results directly through the NHS App, offering a faster and more convenient way to access important health information.

The change is part of the NHS’s ongoing work to make healthcare services more accessible and reduce reliance on paper letters.

How it will work

  • If you use the NHS App, your cervical screening results will be delivered there first.
  • If you have provided an alternative postal address, this will be used only if the result has not been read through the app within a set timeframe.
  • This ensures you still receive your results securely, either digitally or by post.

What this means for patients

The NHS App gives you quick and secure access to your health information, anytime and anywhere. Using the app also reduces the risk of letters being delayed or lost in the post.

If you do not yet use the NHS App, you can download it free from the App Store or Google Play Store, or access services via the NHS website.

Support with accessing results

Patients who prefer to continue receiving results by letter can do so, but please be aware that letters will only be issued if the NHS App notification is not read.

If you have questions about using the NHS App or would like help setting it up, support is available at NHS App help page.
