Seasonal Influenza Vaccinations

Our seasonal flu vaccination programme is getting underway, and appointments are now available for children aged 2 and 3 years old to receive their flu vaccination at the practice.

Children aged 2 – 3 years

Parents and carers of children aged 2 and 3 (born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2024) can now book an appointment at the practice for their child’s seasonal flu vaccination.

School-aged children

Older eligible children will receive information directly from their school about how and when to book their flu vaccination. Please look out for communications from your child’s school.

If your child misses their vaccination at school visit the Vaccination UK website and lookup local catch-up-clinics Catch-up Clinics – Vaccination UK

Children Not school age at risk

We will be contacting children aged 6 months to under 2 years and over 16 years who are in an eligible at-risk group to arrange their vaccination. We expect to begin contacting families during September.

Adult flu vaccinations

We will shortly begin sending recalls to adults who are eligible for a seasonal flu vaccination.

This includes adults in the following NHS eligible groups:

· People aged 65 years and over

· Pregnant women

· People aged between 18 years and under 65 years with these long-term health conditions:

· Respiratory conditions such as asthma or COPD

When will adult appointments be available?

We are not expecting delivery of our flu vaccines until the week commencing 12 October.

Therefore, the first adult vaccination appointments at the practice will be available from Saturday 17 October.

There is no need to contact the practice before you receive an invitation.

You do not have to have your flu vaccination at the GP practice. Local pharmacies will also be offering seasonal flu vaccinations, so eligible patients can choose to book their vaccination at a participating pharmacy instead.

An autumn COVID-19 vaccination programme will run alongside the influenza vaccine programme from 1st October 2026 to 31st January 2027.

Vaccines will be available at pharmacies for individuals aged 75 years (as of 31st January 2027) and over. Residents of care homes for older adults and individuals aged 6 months or over who are immunosuppressed
